Bear Trap Canyon – Madison River Rafting

The Bear Trap Canyon is a remote and scenic stretch of the Madison River that flows out of Ennis Lake, through a steep and rocky canyon. On this trip, you will enjoy amazing scenery, exciting rapids, and peaceful floating. Our knowledgeable and experienced guides also serve a deli-style lunch on the side of the river!

Montana Whitewater is proud to offer full-day trips through the Bear Trap canyon under a special-use permit from the BLM. These trips are designed to be taken with small groups with a maximum of 2-3 boats.

As one of only two outfitters on the Madison, we know you’ll enjoy the peace and quiet of being some of the only people on the river. You may see eagles circling overhead, mountain sheep and goats navigating rocky cliffs, and you might even see a bear!
